Volunteering is the lifeblood of any community. Islam, as well as other faiths, promotes a strong ethic of volunteerism since actions are linked to good deeds.  As a non-profit organization, DU relies on the commitment of volunteers to help provide our students with quality education.  By volunteering, you make a difference in the life of a child.

The Daarul Uloom Parent Assistance Program has been implemented as a means of obtaining parental support of all the activities necessary to enrich the school experience for its students. This program continues to develop and is in need of active parent volunteers who are eager to support their children’s learning environment. Many existing and new programs will flourish with the continued and dependable support of our volunteers. Additionally, we would like parents to be actively involved in the school as effective partners in our development and success. The parents will be working closely with the school administration and expected to respect the goals and guidelines set by the school.

Each DU family must complete a total of 20 hours. The first 10 hours need to be completed before the start of Winter Break by December 23, 2016. The next 10 hours need to be completed by May 25, 2017. Your hours can be completed by working directly with your child’s teachers, with the PTO, various school events, etc.

The goal is to have the parents participate in school programs physically, not financially. If a parent cannot fulfill any hours, they can opt out from this program by paying $200 by August 31, 2016.  Parents will be charged $15 per hour for every hour that is not completed and will be deducted from account.

  • Pre-arrange for a time to volunteer with your child’s classroom teacher.
  • Sign in at the office desk each time you come to volunteer.
  • Fill out a DU pass and wear the pass while you are assisting at DU.
  • Complete the Parent Assistance Program Log.  (Staff members must initial the log at the time of the assistance experience.)

  • Please schedule with the school/teacher ahead of time before you come to volunteer. We want to ensure that we have a project ready for you when you come in and cannot accommodate “walk-ins”.
  • Please do not bring younger siblings. Parents should make babysitting arrangements for their younger siblings.
